Parkway Pilgrims Get Philly To #MoveThatTent Blocking View Of Pope Stage

- Crowds began gathering early Sunday morning in hopes of being in position to see Pope Francis when he celebrates Mass this afternoon on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

But some weren't happy to see a tent go up mid-day and obstruct their view of the stage.

Soon, they began reaching out to city officials, performers and media as well as using social media to get out their message with a hashtag, #MoveThatTent.

There was even video of Mass attendees chanting for the tent to come down sent using our station's #FOX29Pope hashtag:

By 1:18 p.m., they'd caught the attention of the city, which tweeted: "White tent near stage is not for VIPs, was there for orchestra. Heard & saw pilgrims' feedback & the tent is coming down.

The Philadelphia Orchestra also acknowledged in Twitter replies that it was working to bring down the tent and then followed up with this message: "As you can see the tent is coming down! Musicians and Yannick have agreed to perform without cover, in service to all. Enjoy the Mass!"
