Kenney Appoints Tulante City Solicitor

Mayor-Elect Jim Kenney announced Monday that Sozi Pedro Tulante will be named the next city solicitor. Tulante has served for the past five years as an assistant U.S. Attorney in Philadelphia.

Tulante will be introduced during a press conference Monday. His appointment is subject to a City Council vote in January.

A native of Zaire, which is now known as the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tulante grew up in North Philadelphia and graduated from Northeast High School, going on to Harvard College and Harvard Law School. As a prosecutor, he has worked on narcotics and white-collar cases.
