Instead, Knott was convicted of simple assault and reckless endangerment. She was among a group of 15 friends when the attack happened, with three of the them ebing charged.

The other two, both men, Philip Williams and Kevin Harrigan, earlier pleaded guilty and both were sentenced to probation.

Knott was the only one to take the case to trial, insisting she never used slurs or struck anyone. Several of the juror spoke after the verdict.

" i think in her mind.she just had no idea why she was tehre because she saw nothign wrong with what she did," Joan Bellinger, forewoman, said. "And that is so bad. It is so bad taht she saw nothingw rong with what she did. She didn't appear apologetic, it's like what is the big deal? And it was a big deal. It was a big deal for everybody and i am so offended about everything about her.

"We could ahve easily been a hung jury but we decided that we need to come to a decision, so she didn't just get to walk away, something had to be done," Aristeo Duenas said. "We used the evidence and we based our decision on that. We didn't get as much as we wanted, but we got something.

"The victims are happy," Assistant District Attorney Michael Barry said. "They're very happy as they've always said. These two men who went through this have been nothing but gracious, have been nothing but respectful to both sides of this situation.
