Local charity offers discounted prom dresses to students in need

"It fits perfect everywhere!" Erynn Brooks, a student at Little Flower High School, said.

That's what you want! The perfect prom dress, with the perfect fit, at the perfect price.

Erynn said, "I came here last week and found a dress - got it loved it - then I got promposed to that Sunday so now I'm going to another prom, need another dress."

And -- after a few tries -- she found it!

"I said yes to the dress!"

So where is Erynn Brooks finding these glam gowns? It's not a typical store. It's a charity called Helping Hands in the Northeast.

Deneen McCaffery, with Helping Hands, said, "We get them from all over the US - people ship them to us."

They're featuring a few hundred donated gowns - both new and gently used .

"I'm a twin so we need 2 dresses and can't spend 700 dollars on a dress anymore," Erynn said.

All different looks - for one attractive price -- 20 dollars - which is donated back to the organization.

"So a total of 40 dollars for 2 dresses? Yeah, can't beat it," Erynn said.

Deneen says her daughter launched the prom dress drive a couple of years ago.

We've featured Rachel Malampy's story in the past.

She purchased the dress of her dreams as a senior at Archbishop Ryan High School - but couldn't go to the prom because of money.

She's trying to lessen the financial burden for other teenage girls so they can live out their prom fantasy.

Deneen said, "It gives me chills and it makes me feel like we are making a difference."

This prom gown event runs through Sunday - so if you missed it on Saturday - you have one more opportunity to walk the red carpet and find the dress of your dreams on a dime.

Anyone can stop by and shop!
