Local Wrestling Team Members Were Struck in Vegas Crash

WTXF/AP - Five members of the Delaware Valley University wrestling team, as well as the coach, were struck by the car that crashed into a crowd on the Las Vegas Strip Sunday night- but everyone from the team has been cleared medically and will return to campus Tuesday.

According to the Doylestown-based college's website, the team traveled to Las Vegas to compete in the Desert Duels tournament. The five athletes and their coach and athletic director, Steve Cantrell, were all hit while walking from a workout to a movie. All are expected to be okay, although the team decided to pull out of Monday's competition.

"We need to feel blessed. The way our students acted at the scene and the way they were caring for everyone was amazing," Cantrell told Delval.edu. "I called the tournament director and said, 'it doesn't make sense to focus on wrestling today.' They have gone through something emotional and they are processing what they witnessed."

One person was killed in the crash, in which police say Lakeisha N. Holloway intentionally drove into a crowd of people on the strip. According to an AP report, Holloway was arrested not long after the crash.
