Man Charged With 8th DUI After Head On Crash

Delaware State Police arrested and charged a man with his 8 th DUI early Sunday morning.

Around 11:50 p.m. Saturday night, police say William J. McGeehan, was driving down the John J Williams Highway, when he drifted into oncoming traffic, and struck a pickup truck.

McGeehan, 42, was treated for serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 22 year-old woman, was taken to Beebe Medical center to be treated for minor injuries.

Police say McGeehan, of Laurel, Delaware, showed signs of being under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

McGeehan has been charged with DUI, and vehicular assault, and other related charges.

He was held at the Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of bond.

McGeehan has been convicted of DUI seven other times, dating as far back as 1993.
