JUNIATA PARK (WTXF) - SEPTA police say they took a man into custody who they believe is responsible for robbing a 70-year-old man at knifepoint in Juniata Park. So far, no charges have been filed.
The 70-year-old victim Wayne Griffin says he was gathering the free Metro Newspapers to hand them out when he was attacked.
"As soon as he got on he pushed our rider against the wall—held a large knife in his hand and demanded money," SEPTA Police Chief Thomas Nestel said.
According to SEPTA police, the suspect rifled through his victim’s pockets and took his wallet with $5 inside.
At 6pm, Transit Police DETs Bouldin & Ryan saw a man who fit the description of the knifepoint robber. That man was stopped and was taken to Transit Police HQ for investigation. We are VERY confident that this is the person who committed the robbery. Nice work DETs!!!!! pic.twitter.com/GZimSAt9Wj— Thomas J. Nestel III (@TNestel3) July 25, 2018
