NJ Gov. Christie endorses Trump for President

Donald Trump has a new endorsement. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who recently ended his own Republican presidential campaign, says he is backing Trump.

Christie says at a news conference in Fort Worth, Texas, that Trump "will do what needs to be done to protect the American people."

"We don't need any more of these Washington, D.C. acts," Christie said."We don't need Washington politicians to come in and fix it."

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie suspended his campaign for the Republican nomination for president after failing to break out from a field in which non-traditional candidates are making strides.

Christie had banked his campaign on a strong finish in the state, but placed sixth in New Hampshire, despite having spent more than 70 days campaigning in the state.

It was the final blow for a candidate whose campaign, at points, saw glimmers of hope, but had trouble from the get-go raising money and building support in a crowded Republican field dominated by another brash East coaster: Businessman Donald Trump
