NJ woman charged with drunken driving in crash that killed 1, injured 3

HIGHLAND PARK, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities say a New Jersey woman was driving drunk when she caused a fatal crash that killed her passenger and injured three other people.

Middlesex County prosecutors say the crash occurred late Friday night on Route 27 in Highland Park.

They say 20-year-old Ashley Gergits, of Edison, was southbound when her car struck a bridge abutment and collided with another car stopped at a traffic light.

A passenger in Gergits' car, 21-year-old Jenna Adamousky of Edison, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other passengers in the car and the driver of the other car were injured and taken to a hospital. But further details on their conditions have not been released.

Gergits has been charged with driving while intoxicated. A telephone number for her could not be located Monday.
