One in Custody After Abduction Leads to Shootout, Police Pursuit

- Police say a man abducted three people in Southwest Philadelphia and it all ended in a crash near Girard College early Friday morning.

Officers pursued the man, but the chase came to an end at 26th and Girard Streets where the suspect crashed his SUV.

Before the chase, police say the male suspect abducted two people and drove them to his girlfriend's sister's home.

A source tells FOX 29's Jennifer Joyce that the suspect released the two victims and then tried to abduct his girlfriend. That's when the girlfriend's sister, who was armed with a gun, opened fire on the suspect and engaged him in a shootout.

The suspect fled from the shootout, and police pursued the suspect. He was taken into custody after crashing.

Police have recovered the female shooters weapon, but have not recovered the weapon used by the suspect.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
