Philadelphia Police Officer Arrested, Suspended After Dunkin Donuts Incident

- A Philadelphia Police Officer has been arrested for a February incident at a Dunkin Donuts, and charged with Simple Assault and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.

Officer Joseph Marion, according to a police statement, was arrested for the February 14 incident, which took place at a Dunkin Donuts at 1630 E. Wadsworth Avenue. Marion, who was off-duty at the time, saw a male worker applying salt with a shopping cart, after which he lost control of the cart and struck a vehicle. At that point, Marion exited his vehicle and began assaulting the male. A female intervened and was also assaulted.  

Marion’s arrest follows an investigation by  the Department's Internal Affairs Bureau and the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office; he has also been suspended for 30 days with the intent to dismiss. Marion, 39, is a four-year veteran of the police department, assigned to the 25th District.
