Philadelphia's first homicide of 2019 occurs minutes into new year

Nine minutes into 2019, Philadelphia saw its first homicide of the year.

Officers responded to the 3200 block of Tampa Street in Kensington, where 36-year-old Anibal DeJesus suffered gunshot wounds to the chest, head and face. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

There is a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case. This is an ongoing investigation.

In 2018, Philadelphia recorded 351 homicides, the most in over a decade.
