Philly to set up protected bike lanes in Center City

This spring, the City of Philadelphia is hoping is cut back on the number of traffic lanes in Center City, replacing them with bike lanes.

The move is part of a pilot program aimed at improving street safety.

Mayor Kenney says traffic patterns will change on Market Street and JFK Boulevard between 15th and 20th Streets.

Four lanes will become three to create space for parking-protected bike lanes, where parked cars will act as a barrier between bike lanes and traffic.
