Police ID man found dead after 13-hour standoff in NJ

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) -- Officials have released the name of the man who held police at bay with gunfire for several hours at a southern New Jersey home before fatally shooting himself.

Police say 24-year-old Michael Glennon argued with a family member at the Gloucester Township home on Wednesday night and then took a gun and began shooting outside.

A man fled from the home. But a woman identified as Glennon's girlfriend remained because she feared being injured by the gunfire.

The overnight standoff lasted for 13 hours and ended when police used an armored vehicle to remove the home's door and stormed the residence. Officers found Glennon dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Law enforcement did not fire any shots. Glennon's girlfriend was found unharmed in the home.
