Police identify suspect accused of firing at driver who struck pedestrian

Police have identified a suspect who remains at large after police say he fired a gun at a driver who was just involved in a collision in North Philadelphia.

The incident occurred back on Tuesday, September 4 near 8th and Diamond Streets. Police say around 4:30 p.m. a man was injured when he was struck by a red Kia Forte as he crossed the street.

The driver continued down the road, and a second vehicle then gave chase and eventually caught up.

Police say Demetrius Toliver, 31, fired three shots from the second vehicle and struck the driver of the Kia Forte at 5th and Berks Streets.

The injured 23-year-old driver was taken to the hospital, and no one else was struck by gunfire.

Police are continuing to search for Toliver, who drives a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix, red in color with Pennsylvania tags KVH-2710.
