Police investigate attempted abduction in Crescentville

- Philadelphia Police are investigating an attempted abduction that took place early Wednesday morning in the city’s Crescentville neighborhood.

The incident occurred along the 900 block of Devereaux Avenue around 8:25 a.m.

Police say two men were sitting inside a green mini-van as children walked by their car. One of the men then got out of the car and opened the rear hatch, then attempted to lure children towards the vehicle.

The children ran away, and the same suspect, gave chase, shouting threats as the children ran two blocks to a nearby elementary school, according to police.

The school’s principal called police and reported the incident.

Police have described the suspects as black males, and say the man who opened the van’s hatch had gray hair, a gray goatee, and was wearing a green jacket and blue jeans.
