Police investigate attempted abduction in South Philadelphia

Philadelphia Police are investigating a report of an attempted abduction of a child in South Philadelphia.

Authorities say a 13-year-old boy was told by a drive to get into his car near 24 th and Snyder Streets early Sunday afternoon.

The driver was dressed as a woman, according to witness accounts, and the boy ran off without further incident.

Parents in the neighborhood say they are talking to their kids about being careful.

"I don't think any age is too early to start. As soon as they're able to comprehend, some talk should begin. And a lot of them are very touchy subjects, but it's better to have them informed than something happen," one neighbor said.

Police say the man described as heavy set, between the ages of 30 and 40, and was driving a black Ford Explorer with tinted windows.

So far, no arrests have been made.
