Police Investigating Violent Car Theft in West Kensington

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Philadelphia Police are looking to identify and locate the suspects for a robbery in West Kensington.


The incident happened on November 28 at around 5:00 pm a 42-year-old male was getting to pump gas at a BP Gas Station located at 433 West Lehigh Avenue. That's when police say he was approached by several unknown males.


Surveillance video shows Suspect #1, who was armed with a handgun, standing in front of him demanding the man's money while telling the other suspects to go through the his pockets.


When the victim attempted to flee suspect #1 dragged the complainant to the front of the car holding him against it. Suspect #1 then entered the victim's vehicle and drove off, later abandoning the car on the 2700 block of North 6th Street.


The remaining suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction. Taken from the complainant was $200 pockets and approximately $300 from inside the vehicle along with the victim's wallet containing various identification and credit card.


According to Philadelphia Police, the suspect appears to be a Black male, 30 years-of-age, medium complexion, muscular build, 5'9", wearing a green hooded sweatshirt, and armed with a handgun, along with approximately 5 unknown black males wearing hooded sweatshirts and 1 unknown Hispanic male. No further information.
