Police: Man, 44, charged with arson in Newark motel fire

Police have charged a man with arson in connection with a motel fire in Newark, Delaware.

Larry O'Neal Jr., 44, of Wilmington, Delaware, has been charged with first-degree arson and reckless endangering. Both charges are felonies.

The fire broke out shortly after 10:30 p.m. at the Super 8 Motel on East Main Street.

Investigators say O'Neal intentionally set items on fire inside a second-floor motel room.

Heavy fire damage is estimated at $100,000.

O'Neal is currently awaiting his arraignment.
