Norristown man charged with shooting, killing alleged robber

A Norristown man has been arrested and charged in the death of a 26-year-old man following a shooting and botched robbery attempt, authorities say.

At 3 a.m. on July 9, officers were called to Lafayette and Green Streets for reports of a shooting.

When police arrived, they found Christen Greene, 26, in the roadway suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers then encountered 29-year-old Santiago Villifan-Andrade, who surrendered at the scene by placing a handgun on the ground and raising both hands in the air.

Greene explained to the officers that Villifan-Andrade had shot him.

An investigation concluded that Villifan-Andrade arrived at his own apartment to find Greene there with a gun, and in the act of stealing money before running off. Police say Villifan-Andrade then chased Greene, tripped him, took his gun, and shot him.

Greene died at 4:01 am at Mercy Suburban Hospital

Villifan-Andrade was charged with voluntary manslaughter and bail was set at $500,000.
