Police release new footage of sex assault suspect

Police have released new surveillance footage of a man they say attacked a woman from behind, and choked her until she became unconscious.

The incident happened in Frankford just after midnight last Tuesday, July 12.

Police say when the 24-year-old victim of this aggravated/sexual assault "regained consciousness, she was naked in an area to the rear of the property located at 3800 Jasper Street."

She suffered head and facial injuries and got the attention of neighbors, who called 911. She was taken to the hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.

Police say just before, her attacker was seen at a convenience store in the area of 3900 Torresdale Avenue.

The suspect had been riding a blue and black mountain bike with what looked like a headlight or reflector on the front.

He is described as possibly in his 30s, with a full mustache and beard, believed to be wearing a blue or gray jacket, a two-tone backpack (lighter color on top and darker color on the bottom), dark shorts, dark socks, dark high-top sneakers with white soles, and a baseball cap with a "V" shaped logo and a sticker on the top of the bill.

Police consider him dangerous and want to know if he has done anything similar before.

If you recognize him or know where he is, you're asked to call 215-686-TIPS (8477), text a tip to PPDTIP (773847), or click here to submit a tip anonymously. Police say all tips will be confidential.
