Philadelphia police say a suspect has been taken into custody after an hours long search for a handcuffed suspect who escaped police early Friday morning.
The escape occurred around 5:00 a.m. near Roosevelt Boulevard and Summerdale Avenue.
Investigators say it started when officers were responding to a call of an aggressive driver on the Blvd. According to initial reports, a patrol car was rear ended by an erratic driver. The striking vehicle then attempted to flee the scene and crashed into an off duty State Trooper in a private car, police say.
That driver was arrested and placed in a police cruiser but the handcuffed man allegedly kicked out the door and took off.
Police say they traced the man to the 900 block of Godfrey where he was arrested. It's not far from the scene but neighbors tell FOX 29 off camera they didn't hear a thing.
Police have not released the suspect's name. Charges are pending.
