Police: Officers shot at while responding to Southwest Philadelphia shooting scene

Police are looking for a suspect they say opened fire on them as they walked away from the scene of a shooting in Southwest Philadelphia.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting just before 11 p.m. Wednesday night and came across two men walking on the 6800 block of Buist Avenue.

Police say the suspects took off on foot when the officers approached them and one of the suspects pulled a handgun and turned and fired shots at the two uniformed officers. The officers were not hit and did not return fire.

Officers eventually caught up with one of the suspects a block away and were then flagged down to a home on the 2500 block of 69th Street.

The officers found a 29-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds to the arm and face inside the home and rushed him to the hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

Two guns were recovered from the scene in the rear of the 69th Street home.

The investigation is ongoing.
