Police: Suspects armed with assault rifle sought for Kensington robbery

Police are on the hunt for two armed suspects who they say robbed a Kensington 7-Eleven Sunday morning.

The incident took place shortly before 5:30 a.m. Investigators say two men wearing ski masks and dark hoodies entered the store. Initial reports indicate they may have been armed with an AK-47.

Police, citing surveillance video, say they cannot ascertain whether the gun was an AK-47 or an AR-15. Police have confirmed the gun was, in fact, an assault rifle.

Police say the alleged robbers stole personal belongings from the two customers in the store at the time of the incident, as well as cash from the register and cigarettes.

Investigators believe the alleged robbers may have been on foot.

No arrests have been made at this time.
