Police: Teenage boy, man riding bikes in South Philadelphia shot at point blank range

- A teenager riding his bike in South Philadelphia is in critical condition after police say he was shot at point blank range.

The incident took place around 12:30 a.m. Monday near 26th and Tasker streets, where responding officers found a 16-year-old boy and 20-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The two had been riding bicycles.

Both victims were transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. The teen is listed in critical condition, while the 20-year-old is stable.

Police say at least seven shots were fired from a large caliber, semi-automatic weapon.

"We found seven spent shell casings in very close proximity to where the victims had collapsed. So it appears that the shooter was firing shots from point blank range at these two victims that were riding bicycles," Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

Officials are currently combing through surveillance footage in the area.

No arrests have been made at this time. This is an ongoing investigation.
