Police: Teenage boy shot and killed in South Philly; 12-year-old injured

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Police are investigating after a double shooting in South Philadelphia left a 16-year-old boy dead and a 12-year-old injured.

Just before 10:30 p.m. Friday, officers responded to the 1200 block of Fitzwater Street for reports of gunfire.

Investigators say they found at least 22 shell casings at the scene.

Police do not believe the shooting was a random act, saying the boys may have been specifically targeted.

The 16-year-old victim died after being shot once in the chest. The 12-year-old was struck in the leg and is in stable condition.

No arrests have been made at this time.
