Police: Woman arrested after striking officer with stolen car in Kensington

Police are investigating after they say a woman struck an officer while driving a stolen car Saturday evening in Kensington.

The incident began around 6 p.m. when a 34-year-old woman allegedly stole a Hyundai Sonata from the Wawa at 1300 East Eerie Avenue. Police started to pursue the stolen car, which officials say struck several vehicles on Reach Street before striking a police vehicle.

Police say the woman then intentionally struck an officer with the car. The officer was transported to Temple University Hospital and is expected to be okay.

The woman is in custody and was transported to Temple University Hospital - Episcopal Campus to be evaluated for any injuries.
