Prosecutors: Attempted rape motivated killing of Bucks County teen

A Bristol Township man, already charged in the murder of his teenage cousin, now faces charges of attempted rape.

Police say 20-year-old Colin Haag tried to sexually assault his 14-year-old cousin, Autumn Bartle, before brutally killing her in March.

Prosecutors on Wednesday added a first-degree felony charge of attempted rape to the charges Haag already faced in Bartle's attack.

On Friday, March 30, Bartle's parents found her suffering from multiple stab and gunshot wounds at their home on the 400 block of Sycamore Avenue. She was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Following the incident, Haag, who had been living with the Bartle family, was found by Bensalem Police along State Road. Haag was found suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the neck, and officers found he was in possession of two handguns that were reported stolen from the Bartle home.

Haag was treated for his injuries at Jefferson Hospital and was charged with stealing the guns following his release.

On Wednesday, Haag waived his preliminary hearing on all counts. He remains held without bail.
