Rain, storms to impact area Friday afternoon

Friday morning may have started off with some pop-up showers for some folks in the area, but Friday night's rain is expected to be far more wide spread.

During the morning rush, some areas may have seen a brief, fast-moving shower as a warm front moves through the area.

Friday evening a cold front will be moving through the area, bringing plenty of rain and potential for storms with it. A flash flood watch in effect from about 2 p.m. through about 8 p.m. Friday.

The afternoon could bring some storms down the shore, but that cold front will come through later on, bringing pop-up showers and thunderstorms to the area between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Flash flooding will be at its highest probability after the cold front moves in.

As for temperatures, we're expected to reach a high of 88 Friday before things are cooled off by the rain.

The good news is the sun will return for the weekend, with highs in the 80s both days, as well as Monday for the eclipse!
