Residents Stock Up on Supplies

Snow shovels and rock salt are flying off the shelves as people prepare for the storm. Leaving many store shelves bare and some folks without the essentials. One store that's prepared for days like this is Kilian's Hardware in Chestnut Hill. This place has everything, and it's been the busiest place in town.

It's been non-stop all day at Kilian Hardware Company in Chestnut Hill. A steady stream of customers clamoring for rock salt and shovels since the neighborhood store opened its doors today.

"This is not what I was expecting for a Thursday Afternoon..it's been nuts. This is before it snows, so its been mad."

Many making a mad dash for supplies with predictions of some serious snow for Saturday. It seems no one wants to be caught unprepared.

Lillie Hill of Mt. Airy stocking up on salt. Her friend and neighbor harold hayes out grabbing another shovel..just in case...

"Are you the designated shoveler? Yes..haha.. Do You like to shovel? No."

Next stop..the grocery store...to get what else...

"I know, bread and milk, if its not gone already."

Marie Williams says she stocked up on food...she was only after one thing today...

"I'm getting rock salt. I've called everywhere--all out..Already? Yes so we end up in the neighborhood."

For some reason, this 102 year old family owned store...always seems to have salt.... When no one else does..

"We are like magic like that...we find ways to get salt and we actually have more coming tomorrow."
