Soldier delivers tearful surprise at daughter's graduation

RANCHO BERNARDO, CA - A California teen reaches a major milestone in her life and, gets the surprise of a lifetime.

It's been nearly a year since Camille Morris has seen her father thinking he would miss her high school graduation, the big day started off as bittersweet -- but, turns into a dream come true.

FOX's Salvador Rivera has the story.

Camille Morris had no idea her father had flown halfway around the world to attend her graduation at Rancho Bernardo High School.

Master Sgt. Derrick Morris conspired with the school's principal, David LaMaster, to keep it a secret.

During the ceremony, LaMaster asked Camille to join him in the middle of the field and then suddenly introduced her father to the crowd.

Master Sgt. Morris walked up and Camille jumped into his arms and shed a few tears.

"I didn't want to let go, I wanted to hold on to him. It would've been a year in September since I'd seen him, probably would've missed my 18th birthday, too," said Camille.

Camille's father had been serving in Kuwait with his Army unit.

"I wanted to tell her I was coming, but I'm glad I didn't," said Master Sgt. Morris.

The entire Morris family will now spend a few days together before he has to return to Kuwait.
