(INSIDE EDITION) A Las Vegas teacher who allegedly had sex with a middle schooler kept a journal to document notable moments in their relationship, police said.
Math teacher and mother Nicole Wilfinger, 37, is accused of having a sexual relationship with the son of family friends that began when he was 14.
Wilfinger, who taught at Molasky Junior High School, allegedly kept journal entries that listed first-time encounters with the boy on her cellphone, according to an arrest report seen by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
“First time talking and friendship changes forever,” Wilfinger allegedly documented as occurring on May 22. July 11 marked the “first time we had sex,” she reportedly wrote, while November 4 was the “first time having make-up sex.”
“March 23 – first time having sex in his bed,” another entry allegedly said.
Wilfinger allegedly told police that she and the boy created those entries.
The teacher, who was arrested on Friday, was the teen’s soccer coach while he was a student at Molasky Middle School and babysat the family’s 7-year-old daughter, the report said. The boy’s family also reportedly babysat her 7-year-old daughter.
The victim and Wilfinger exchanged 1,970 phone calls, 156 texts and 325 images, which had been deleted from her phone, the newspaper wrote.
A school principal first alerted authorities of a suspicious relationship between the teacher and the boy, who reportedly said during a police interview that Wilfinger was saved in his phone as “best friend.”
Investigators also found photos of the two on Instagram, where the pair referred to each other as “BFFs,” FOX5 reported.
Wilfinger faces three counts of statutory sexual seduction by a person older than 21, one count of engaging in sexual conduct with a student between the ages of 14 and 15, one count of engaging in sexual conduct with a student between the ages of 16 and 17, and three counts of lewdness with a child older than 14.
It’s unclear how far back in time the charges reach.
She was initially held at the Clark County Detention Center on $60,000 bail but later posted bail and was released.
Wilfinger has worked at the junior high school since at least 2012, according to online salary records.
