Temple Bans Hoverboards

Temple University has officially banned hoverboards from all university campuses, the university announced over the weekend.

"In light of recent hazards related to hoverboards, Temple University is prohibiting these devices on all university campuses, including in residence halls and academic buildings, unless or until the university determines that appropriate standards can be implemented to reduce associated safety and fire risks," James P. Creedon, Temple's Senior Vice President for Construction, Facilities and Operations, said in a statement.

Creedon added that the devices "may not be used, charged or stored" anywhere on the university campus for the 2016 spring semester.

And while skateboards remain legal, Creedon asked that Temple's "skateboard community" " be respectful of campus property when using your board."
