Man has young daughter help him steal from Walmart

- Most parents teach their kids not to steal, but Winter Haven police say a recent case was just the opposite.

Police say on a trip to steal from the Walmart on Cypress Gardens Boulevard, Tommy Amador, Jr. brought his young daughter with him.

Police say Amador's plans were simple. He was going to leave without paying for anything in his cart, including an expensive motorized toy.

"He obviously knew exactly what he was going to do," said Public Information Officer, Jamie Brown.

Police say he also had a back-up plan in place, if they were to be questioned. Amador allegedly told his daughter to claim she'd thrown the receipt and change away, so there was no paper trail.

"A child is not going to make that up on the fly, so he had to have had something to do with that," Brown said.
"Absolutely not good parenting. It's a terrible role model."

Tips and good surveillance shots helped police track him down. Amador is now charged with grand theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

"Involving a child in some kind of criminal activity is absolutely unforgivable and we will make you pay for it," Brown said.

Amador is out of jail on bond. No one at his home wanted to comment on this story.
