Winter Weather Advisory in effect for parts of our region

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for parts of our area.

According to FOX 29's Dave Warren, rain will develop south to north Sunday night and could try to push as far north as the PA Turnpike.

Precipitation will begin as rain and the temperatures will be above freezing so no major impacts will happen Sunday night as far as the roads go.

Minor coastal flooding could happen with the next high tide - 7-9 p.m. Ocean-Bay - with the water levels rising a bit with the morning high tide but still below flood stage.

The rain will change to snow as colder air moves in overnight. The change to snow will work its way from north to south and occur last along the coast.

The snow will be light along I-95 and will change to snow last along the coast.

Snow may not start accumulating on the ground until late Sunday into early Monday, since the ground is not frozen and the rain will be changing to snow during those hours.

On Monday morning, snow will be on the ground from mainly I-95 to the coast.

The roads may be just slushy given that they are warmer and are likely to be treated, but grass and untreated surfaces may have up to an inch of snow at least. They will still be slippery.

In central New Jersey and possibly closer to the coast, there could be more snow.

Atlantic and Ocean Counties have a Winter Weather Advisory in effect.

As the sun rises, the snow will be ending west to east with clearing skies, and roads should improve rapidly.

Coastal flooding is more likely to occur with Sunday night's high tide, but could also be an issue on Monday morning. However, major flooding is not expected given the moon stage and only a short period of time with northeast wind.
