Police: 15-year-old student arrested after threat against Wissahickon High School

All Wissahickon School District Schools operated on a two-hour delay Monday after a student allegedly made a threat against Wissahickon High School.

Police say they arrested a 15-year-old Wissahickon High School student who is facing charges of harassment and making terroristic threats.

According to police, they learned of the threat around 7 p.m. Sunday, when students called the cell phone of the high school-based police officer. Others posted the threat on 'Safe to Say', which is an anonymous site for just this type of situation.

The threat read:

"...school might get lit-up , so don't wear nothing nice..."

Investigators say a phone number was left.

"The young man used a spoofing app to mask his phone number so it took a little work to dig that owner down," Lower Gwynedd Police Detective Glen Fowler said.

Police say working with Verizon and officials with a spoofing app they worked through the night to identify and locate the 15-year-old.

"We appreciate the community's understanding as we sorted through the facts and conducted an extensive, after hours investigation," the school district said in a statement. "Safety of staff and students remains are top priority."

It's the second incident in recent days for the district. Police say on Friday, a drunken 20-year-old rode a school bus to the high school and walked right in before being arrested.
