Woman pleads guilty in hit and run that killed boy, 4

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- A suburban Philadelphia woman is heading to prison in a hit-and-run crash that killed a 4-year-old Philadelphia boy last year.

Twenty-eight-year-old Shanika Mason was sentenced Tuesday to two to five years behind bars after pleading guilty to leaving the scene of a fatal accident and involuntary manslaughter.

Authorities say the Sharon Hill woman was behind the wheel of a sport utility vehicle on April 13, 2015, when Abdul Wilson came out from between two parked cars onto a street in Philadelphia's Kingsessing neighborhood. The SUV struck and killed him. Police say Mason ran over the child a second time as she tried to flee.
