Woman struck and killed by car in Oxford Circle

Police are investigating after a woman was struck and killed by a bar in Oxford Circle.

The woman was reportedly crossing the street near Roosevelt Boulevard and Large Street, an area known for speeding, just after 11 p.m. Monday evening.

Police are still trying to identify the 20-something victim, who they say was stuck with such force that she came out of both her sneakers and flew into the roadway.

Officials say the victim suffered severe damage to her head, face and body before being transported to Einstein Medical Center, where she was declared dead a short time later.

Police say there was also visible damage to the front of the striking vehicle, a 2009 Honda Accord.

The driver of that vehicle, a 22-year-old, did not appear to be under the influence, according to police. That driver, however, did not have a license at the time of the incident. It is unclear what charges the driver may face as a result.
