Local teen beats the odds with the help of UCP

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) A local teen is beating the odds through a positive attitude and determination.

Dylan Foreaker, a teen from the Mayfair section of Philadelphia, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at 14-months-old. At 3 years old, he still wasn't walking. Adrienne Curry was a single mom at the time and turned to UCP for support. UCP helped Dylan and his mom during those difficult early days with equipment and advice.

Over the years, the high school sophomore has had to overcome many obstacles. He's had all kinds of treatments and therapy.Today, Dylan walks with just one brace on his right leg. Dylan's progress has a lot to do with his positive attitude and determination. Dylan says he's never let his disability hold him back or keep him from chasing his dream.

Dylan is passionate about many thing including UCP's "Life Without Limits 5K Night Race." He's been participating with his family since he was 6 years old. Yes, this is "Team Dylan's 10th year! It's their way of giving back to UCP and increasing awareness about people with disabilities. The first few years Dylan was in a wheelchair because it was too far to walk. Now, he walks and even runs part of the race with his grandfather by his side.

They've already set a goal for next year. They're going to run the entire race. Talk about an inspiration.
