Man accused of spending an hour to break into ATM arrested

A man seen on video spending about an hour trying to break into an ATM is now under arrest, a month and a half later, according to Philadelphia police.

They report Donald Smack did it overnight back on Oct. 8 in the 1500 block of Wadsworth Avenue, "using various tools to gain access to the machine. Once doing so, the suspect took an unknown amount of money from the cash drawer then fled in an unknown direction."

Later, police got an anonymous tip identifying the suspect as Smack, 55.

They arrested him Thursday, serving a warrant at Smack's home in the 2700 block of French Street.

He was arrested, and charged with theft and related offenses.
