Police: Man Allegedly Breaks Into Hatfield Apartment, Rapes Girl

Hatfield, Pa. (WTXF) Authorities say they have arrested a man who allegedly broke into a Hatfield apartment and raped a child.

According to authorities, early on the morning of November 9th the Hatfield Township Police Department received a report of a burglary in progress at the Hatfield Village Apartments. Authorities say an 11-year-old boy called and said that a man broke into his family's apartment and may have done "something" to his sister.

The adult male was being held at the scene by the child's step-father. When police arrived, they were directed to a bedroom in the apartment where they found, Oscar Rivera Herrera, lying on the floor of the bedroom, according to authorities. The man is accused of breaking into the apartment and sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl who was sleeping in the bedroom.

Authorities say Herrera admitted to entering the apartment through a living room window and admitted to getting into the same bed as the 6-year-old girl. Herrera also admitted he had broken into this same apartment approximately two or three months ago, though no one was present at the time, according to investigators.

Oscar Rivera Herrera is charged with Rape, Rape of a Child, Statutory Sexual Assault, Sexual Assault, Indecent Assault, Burglary, Criminal Trespass, Terroristic Threats, and Simple Assault.
