Man arrested after trying to steal woman's purse from Old City hotel room

Old City (WTXF) - Philadelphia police made an arrest in a burglary that happened an Old City hotel.

The incident happened on Saturday morning at 7:30 A.M. when a 57-year-old man returned to his hotel room and found an intruder inside.

According to police, he confronted the intruder and tried to detain him. The intruder fought back and fled the room, but he followed him.

The complainant allegedly chased the suspect down the stairs while the suspect threatened to stab him. When the chase continued into the hotel lobby, the complainant along with a witness were able to detain the suspect until police arrived.

Police arrested the 58-year-old white male who they say tried to steal the complainant's wife's purse but dropped it in the chaos.

According to police, the complainant suffered an injury to his thumb during the struggle.
