Man arrested for DUI after hitting, injuring SJU student on City Ave.

A man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault while DUI, simple assault and related offenses after police say he hit and injured a Saint Joseph's University student on City Avenue.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, December 13 at around 6:30 p.m.

The man was driving northbound on City Avenue and the pedestrian, police say was walking eastbound on Lapsley Lane, crossing City Avenue.

The man's car struck the pedestrian on the 5600 block of City Avenue.

The pedestrian was transported to Lankenau Medical Center by Medical Personnel and is currently listed in critical condition.

42-year-old Malchijah Giddings has been arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault while DUI, Simple Assault, and related offenses.
