Man Charged in Attempted Carjacking at Bensalem Wawa

Bensalem, Pa. (WTXF) Bensalem police say they have made an arrest in an attempted carjacking.

According to authorities, on Sunday January 10th, police responded to the Route 1 Wawa in Bensalem for a report of an attempted carjacking at the gas pumps.

Police say a man approached a woman as she was seated in her vehicle after filling her gas tank. As the victim attempted to close her car door, the man grabbed the door and held it open, investigators say. According to police, the man then covered the victim’s mouth with his hand and told her to keep quiet as he attempted to force her out of the driver’s seat.

The woman fought back and sounded her horn, which alerted multiple witnesses who then intervened and chased the suspect as he ran through the Neshaminy Interplex.

Police believe this incident is related to a carjacking that occurred at the same location on December 30th.

Police say they have arrested 22-year-old Amir Saunders who is homeless for both carjacking incidents. Saunders is being charged with kidnapping, robbery of a motor vehicle, and related offenses.
