Man sues Apple, claims company stole his iPhone idea

(FOX NEWS) - Who invented the iPhone? A Florida man says he did, and now he's suing Apple to be paid a whole lot of dough.

Thomas Ross claims to have conceived and patented iPhone-like technology and is demanding Apple reimburse him for $10 billion, plus 1.5 percent of worldwide sales of the iPhone, iPod, and iPad.

Ross actually filed a patent for his "Electronic Reading Device" in 1992. He submitted to the court drawings showing features which are now standard for smartphones, like a touchscreen interface and video player.

Evidence from his case show some similarities, while others have pointed out Ross' creation borrowed from gadgets in Star Trek and the Apple's Newton PDA from the 1980s.
