Man found lying in the street after a hit and run

A man has died after being found in lying in the roadway on Lancaster Avenue near 42nd Street Sunday morning.

Police were on routine patrol around 3:15 a.m. when they found the body in the bike lane on the street.

The man was still breathing when medics were immediately notified and transported to Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center. He was later pronounced dead at 4:16 a.m. The man is unidentified and said to be in his mid-50s.

Investigators say that the injuries sustained were consistent with that of being struck by an automobile. There has been no description of the fleeing vehicle at this time.
