Man hid wife's body in freezer for 8 years to collect social security checks

(INSIDE EDITION) - The heirs of a Florida man who hid his late wife's body in a freezer for eight years so he could collect her Social Security benefits have repaid the money he took, authorities say.

Prosecutors say that Margaret Dunn died inside her condo at the Sun City Center, a retirement community near Tampa, in 2002.

Her husband, Allan, collected her Social Security benefits until he passed in 2010.

In all, he illegally collected $92,088 in federal benefits.

After Mr. Dunn's passing, authorities learned that his wife's body was in the freezer of the condo. His heirs claimed they have no knowledge of the act.

The heirs have recently sold the condo to pay off the remaining funds to the Social Security Administration, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

The heirs to the condo agreed to waive their right in inheriting the home and put it up for sale where it sold.
