Man who visited DC-area hospitals dressed as 'Batman' struck and killed along MD highway

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (FOX 5 WTTG)- Lenny B. Robinson, a man who regularly visited with children at D.C. area hospitals dressed as ‘Batman,' was killed Sunday night after being struck by a car along a Maryland highway.

Police say Robinson was driving his custom-made Batmobile Sunday night when engine problems forced him to make an emergency stop, partially in the fast lane of eastbound Interstate-70. Investigators say Robinson was standing in the fast lane checking the engine when a vehicle struck him and his car. Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident occurred at 10:30 p.m. west of Big Pool Road just outside of Hagerstown.

In 2012, Robinson became a hit on social media after police pulled over his Batmobile in Silver Spring, Md.

He lived in the Baltimore area and once visited FOX 5 where he took Tucker for a ride in his Batmobile and tried his hand at doing the weather forecast.
