Md. man sentenced to 15 years for battering 3-year-old girl with motorcycle helmet

A Maryland man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for smashing a 3-year-old girl's skull with a motorcycle helmet and blaming three other men for the crime.

Julio More pleaded guilty to first-degree child abuse and was sentenced Friday in Montgomery County.

The 28-year-old admitted to punching his girlfriend's daughter, 3-year-old Cynthia Harris, as well as using his helmet to hit her more than two times in the face.

After the attack, Judith Harris found her daughter badly bruised, her eyes swollen shut and having difficulty breathing. The mother said she received a call from More that three unknown black men in an SUV had blocked the roadway near Dewey Road and Randolph Road in Rockville. He claimed they jumped out of the vehicle, confronted him and attacked the little girl.

But it was all a lie. More ended up confessing he beat the little girl multiple times.

Doctors said the right side of the 3-year-old's skull was fractured along with her eye sockets. She also sustained bleeding on the brain.

More told investigators he did not have a clear reason for what he did and he was sorry for hurting her.

However, doctors said Cynthia Harris will never be the same after suffering irreversible brain damage. The young girl continues to have nightmares because of the attack.
