WEST PHILADELPHIA (FOX 29) - It was a packed house at Abiding Truth Ministries for an emergency meeting between Philadelphia police and the community after two teens were shot and killed in two days last weekend in West Philly.
"This latest spike of violence involving teens is disheartening and it's unacceptable," Philadelphia Police Captain Captain Scott Drissel said.
It was standing room only inside of an emergency community meeting for the 12th and 18th Police Districts Abiding Truth Ministries in Southwest Philadelphia was packed and police are ready to act.
"When a teen is killed on the streets of Philadelphia I take that personally," Captain Drissel said.
Last weekend, two teens were shot and killed—two days a part— two blocks apart. Two families’ lives are forever changed.
Police say this can’t continue. One solution is greater parental involvement while another “must” is community involvement.
With only one week’s notice, hundreds of people showed up Thursday because they care.
Police say in the last week or so they’ve stepped up patrols and officers are working overtime.
